CHANGE ON THE WAY FOR HUNTER STREET MALL

Change could be just around the corner in Hunter Street Mall, with occupants of The Emporium told they have 30 days to vacate the building. Sydney developer, Iris Capital, bought 1.6 hectares of the CBD, including The Emporium, late last year. There’s no firm word on the immediate future of the old David Jones building, but Iris has previously outlined plans to transform the area into apartments and office space. It says it will work to relocate The Emporium’s occupants.

HUNTER VALLEY WOMAN MISSING

Police are appealing for the public’s help to find a missing Hunter Valley woman. 44-year-old Tathra Llyod was released from a mental health facility in Maitland on Monday, but failed to return home to Dungog. She has not made contact with her family and doesn’t have any identification or mobile phone. Tathra is known to use an alias of Mitzy Puntapinta and regularly uses public transport.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED CHILD GROOMING

A 47-year-old mid north coast man has been granted conditional bail, after allegedly grooming a teenage girl online. He faced court today charged with two counts of using a carriage service to groom persons under 16, and using a carriage service to procure persons under 16. Yesterday’s arrest followed a two month investigation undertaken by the Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit. Police allege the man believed he was speaking with a 13-year-old girl and engaged in numerous sexually explicit conversations with the child, going as far to suggest meeting for sex. He’s next due to front court in July.
