ALLEGED ASSAULT HOSPITALISES 47-YEAR-OLD ON THE GOLD COAST

A fight between two men on the Gold Coast has left one in hospital and another facing assault charges. Police say a fight broke out between two men on the Esplanade between Hanlon Street and Trickett Street in Surfers Paradise around 12:20am today. A 47-year-old Fortitude Valley man was allegedly punched in the head and fell to the ground rendering him unconscious, and was then punched several times while on the ground. Police arrested a 25-year-old man from Surfers Paradise, who was later charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. He will face the Southport Magistrates Court next month. The injured man sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

POLICE OPERATION WRAPS UP WITH 28 ARRESTED ON 93 CHARGES

Six search warrants were executed at residential addresses on the Gold Coast and Logan yesterday, as part of a police operation targeting those with OMCG links. The raids were the final stage of Operation Oscar Autocross, that investigated criminal syndicates distributing drugs including amphetamine, cocaine, MDMA and steroids throughout the Gold Coast and Logan areas. Four men and a woman were charged in relation to yesterday’s raids. Police have seized drugs, cash and property with a total value of $370,000 over the course of the operation, that commenced last year. In total, Operation Oscar Autocross has resulted in the arrest of 28 people on 93 charges.

FIGHT LEAVES A GOLD COAST MAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION

A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a fight in a carpark on the Gold Coast. Police say a man became involved in an argument with a group of men at an address in Southport, about 7 o’clock last night. The man and one of the group walked outside into a carpark where a fight broke out. During the fight, the man collapsed to the ground. The other man fled the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE INTO MISSING GOLD COAST TEEN

Concerns are held for a missing teenager on the Gold Coast. The 17-year-old boy was reported missing from Upper Coomera after he was last seen at a Starush Court residence around 2pm on Monday March 20. He has not made contact with family or friends since. The boy is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cm tall, blonde hair, proportionate build and blue eyes.

TWO TO FACE COURT AFTER ALLEGEDLY CRASHING STOLEN SUV

A teenager and a 12-year-old boy will face court after they allegedly stole an SUV and crashed it into another vehicle on the Gold Coast. Around 7.15am yesterday, police were travelling on the Logan Motorway in Carole Park when they saw a black SUV loose control in the rain. The vehicle jumped a guard rail and collided with a small station wagon on the opposite side of the motorway. One of the alleged offenders ran from the SUV into nearby bushland. After a short pursuit, the offender was apprehended, while another alleged offender was arrested at the scene. The 12-year-old has been charged with once count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. 22-YEAR-OLD TO FACE GOLD COAST COURT OVER DANGEROUS DRIVING

A stolen car has been driven at high speed through the Gold Coast, at one point evading police despite three blown tyres. Just before 8pm on Saturday night, a police helicopter detected a speeding vehicle on the M1 at Highland Park. Police attempted to intercept the vehicle at Wardoo Street, but the driver failed to stop and allegedly continued to drive dangerously through Southport, Pacific Pines and Helensvale. Officers used road spikes on Helensvale Road at Helensvale, but the vehicle continued on three blown tyres. Police eventually intercepted the car on Kopps Road at Oxenford. A 22-year-old man is facing dangerous driving, stealing and drug charges.

GOLD COAST POLICE OFFICER STRUCK BY PASSING VEHICLE

A police officer on the scene of a minor traffic accident has been struck by passing vehicle on the Gold Coast. The officer had left his car and was rendering assistance at the accident on the M1 at Tugun, when the driver of a vehicle lost control and struck the officer at around 11:40am today. He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with head and internal injuries.

ASSISTANCE SOUGHT INTO MISSING GOLD COAST MAN

Police hold concerns for a man missing on the Gold Coast. 32-year-old Aaron Smith was last seen around 2pm on Friday when he left an address on Coldstream Way in Holmview in his car. He has not been heard from since. Concerns are held for Aaron’s welfare as his disappearance is out of character. Police say he was travelling between Burleigh and Holmview. Mr Smith is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 192cm tall with a proportionate build, brown hair and beard and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark grey polo shirt and blue shorts. Aaron’s vehicle is described as a grey 2002 Holden Commodore with QLD registration 598GZM.
