WOMAN CRITICAL AFTER M1 CRASH ON THE GOLD COAST

A 26-year-old woman is in a critical condition after a serious traffic crash on the Gold Coast last night. Police say the woman was driving a hatchback on the M1 in Helensvale just before 8:30pm, when it crashed into the rear of a large prime mover. The car then side-swiped another vehicle before coming to a stop against guardrail wires. The woman and sole occupant of the hatchback was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

ASSISTANCE SOUGHT TO IDENTIFY ALLEGED MAIL THIEF

Police have released CCTV footage of a man they are attempting to identify, in relation to alleged mail theft at a Gold Coast apartment complex. Around 1am last Sunday, the man entered a carpark of the apartment complex on Pine Ridge Road at Coombabah using a master key. He then used the key to access multiple letterboxes, before leaving the scene on foot. He’s described as caucasian in appearance, with long blonde hair and a distinctive tattoo on his right calf. At the time, he was wearing a red New York Yankees baseball cap, a black t-shirt, denim shorts and black running shoes.

SOUTHPORT SERVICE STATION HELD UP BY FOUR ARMED MEN

Police are on the lookout for four men following the armed robbery of a service station on the Gold Coast last night. The men, armed with an iron bar, a knife and axe, entered the Smith Street premises in Southport just before 9pm. After threatening the male staff member, they stole an amount of cash before leaving the scene in a grey vehicle. No-one was physically injured.

31-YEAR-OLD WOMAN MISSING FROM COOLANGATTA

Assistance is being sought from the public to help locate a woman missing from Coolangatta. 31-year-old Alyse Cameron arrived at Coolangatta Airport from Melbourne at around 6pm on Monday. Her family notified authorities after she failed to board a bus to Byron Bay. Alyse is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165cm tall, of slim build with blonde hair.

TWO CHARGED, ONE ON THE RUN, AFTER ALLEGED GOLD COAST PURSUIT

Two men have been charged over their alleged involvement in a police pursuit on the Gold Coast. Police say they observed a stolen Volkswagen travelling on Kessels Road at MacGregor, south of Brisbane, just before 9pm last night. Police tracked the vehicle along the M1, until road spikes were successfully used to stop the vehicle at Reedy Creek, just after 9:30pm. Three people ran from the vehicle into nearby bushland. Two were arrested while the third remains outstanding. A police dog located a semi-automatic handgun near the vehicle which police say had been thrown by one of the men. Among other charges, a 19-year-old Wynnum man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a handgun, An 18-year-old Sunnybank Hills man has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, and …

GOLD COAST MAN CHARGED OVER A SPATE OF ALLEGED ATM ROBBERIES

A Gold Coast man will face court over the robbery and attempted robbery of nine ATM machines across South East Queensland. The 34-year-old from Helensvale will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with various offences including four counts of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence. Police say the ATM’s were located in shopping centres, and were targeted between January last year through to January in 2018. A 38-year-old Brisbane man will also be charged with nine counts of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, and obstructing police.

GOLD COAST DRIVER CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY CRASHING STOLEN UTE

A Gold Coast man has been charged after allegedly crashing a stolen motor vehicle on the weekend. Police say just before 10pm on Sunday night, a ute was seen driving erratically at Burleigh Heads, before running a red light and crashing a short time later at University Drive in Robina. Two men allegedly attempted to flee the scene when police arrived, but were apprehended and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries. A 19-year-old Robina man has now been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and dangerous driving while intoxicated. He will appear at Southport Magistrates Court next month.

FIREARM POINTED AT GOLD COAST EMPLOYEES LEAVING WORK

Two women on the Gold Coast have been threatened at gunpoint while leaving work overnight. The two employees of a Highland Park tavern on Alexander Drive were leaving work at around 10.30pm, when they noticed a man loitering in the rear carpark. The man, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, approached their vehicle as it was pulling out of the carpark, where he produced a firearms and pointed it in their direction. The two women fled the scene in their car while the man left on foot. Police would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in their enquiries over the incident. He is described as having an athletic build and was wearing a red, hooded jumper, black pants, black shoes, black gloves and a black motorcycle helmet.
