TOUKLEY FIRE SUSPICIOUS

Police are treating a fire at a de-commissioned Toukley motel as suspicious. The blaze spread quickly after starting on the top level of the old Waters Edge Motel. It took firefighters from Toukley, Budgewoi and Hamlyn Terrace two hours to extinguish it. Traffic along Main Road had to be diverted during that time. Police are hoping to speak to a number of young people who were seen outside the premises just before the fire ignited.

MEDICAL EMERGENCY LEADS TO EVACUATION OF MINGARA

A motorcyle crash on Wyong Road has led to the evacuation of Mingara Recreation Centre. The club’s grounds were needed so a helicopter could be flown in to transport a man seriously injured in the accident. The 40-year-old suffered serious head injuries after coming off his bike at a roundabout. He’s been taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
