WARIALDA DEFEND CHS TITLE

Warialda High School’s all-conquering girls sevens team returned from Sydney today, with another trophy for the cabinet. The Jammers successfully defended their New South Wales Combined High Schools title. The side went through the final day undefeated, downing the Central Coast’s Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College 15-7 in the decider. This years team has been unstoppable in 2017, having won the state’s all schools tournament in June.

KAY HELPS BOOMERS TO VICTORY

Back to basketball and Tamworth’s Nick Kay looked more like a seasoned veteran, in his Boomers debut last night in Lebanon. He helped Australia to an 84-68 win over Japan, in the Asia Cup. The Illawarra Hawks player came off the bench, scoring seven points… including a three pointer… during his 15 minutes on the floor. The Boomers play Hong Kong tomorrow night. (no audio)

KAY READY FOR BOOMERS DEBUT

Tamworth basketball product Nick Kay will make his debut for the Boomers tonight, when they take on Japan, in round one of the Asia Cup in Lebanon. It’s the first year Australia has participated in the tournament. It represents a rapid rise in the sport for the former Thunderbolt, who has only just completed his second season in the National Basketball League. (no audio)
