REGENCY FRANCO HITTING FINE FORM

Hunter Valley pacer ‘Regency Franco’ took out Tamworth Harness Racing’s Winter Warmer Stakes overnight. It was the five-year-old mare’s second win in four starts. Driver Laura Spencer timed her run perfectly. “Now unleashing down the outside, ‘Regency Franco’ over ‘Yes Brother Yes’. ‘Regency Franco’ hits the lead late. ‘Regency Franco’ in front, as ‘Regency Franco’ over ‘Rocknroll Annie’.” (vision accompanied by audio in part)

SHOWJUMPING RETURNS TO GUNNEDAH

Gunnedah Showground was transformed today, for this year’s Show Society Showjumping Festival. While a clash with a Sydney event has seen some of the nation’s top riders not come to the North West, there’ll still be three rings running until Sunday. Tamworth course designer Greg Backhouse helped put together a challenging task for riders. Today marked the start of the competition, with the championship titles to be decided on Sunday afternoon. LOCAL JUNIOR STARS ON ORIGIN NIGHT

Former West Tamworth Lions junior, Ethan Parry, starred in the New South Wales Under 18s win over Queensland in Sydney last night. He was selected on the wing after scoring three tries for Parramatta in its SG Ball Cup grand final victory earlier this year… Last night the teenager didn’t disappoint, scoring untouched in the corner during the State of Origin curtain raiser. New South Wales winning the match, 35 to 28. (no audio)
