CALLAGHAN THROUGH TO ROUND FIVE IN MEXICO

Avoca’s Macy Callaghan has scraped through to round five at the Los Cabos Open of Surf in Mexico. The 16-year-old was pitted against defending champion and fellow Aussie Bronte Macaulay. After a slow start, the reigning world junior title holder fired up… “That second turn really nice and critical, the third one even more, didn’t finish the fourth but damage was done after that” A two wave total of 13.07 enough to take the heat. LAY DAY HALTS WILKO’S FIJI PRO CAMPAIGN

Matt Wilkinson’s charge at the Fiji Pro was put on hold for second day due to small waves. The 28-year-old hasn’t dropped a heat at cloud break, beating Miguel Pupo in the third round. Next up he’ll face fellow Aussie Julian Wilson and Brazillian Ian Gouveia. Runner up last year, a win would see the current world number five move closer to the yellow leaders jersey. A long period swell is forecast to arrive at the end of the week.

PREMIER LEAGUE MOVE FOR MAT RYAN

Socceroos and former Mariners keeper, Mat Ryan is reportedly on the verge of signing with Premier League new-comers, Brighton and Hove Albion. Currently contracted to La Liga giants, Ryan was loaned to Belgian club KRC Genk, making 22 appearances this year. The 25-year-old will be in action tomorrow night when the Socceroos take on Saudi Arabia.

LADIES LEAGUE TAG TEAM CELEBRATING FOLLOWING WIN

The local league tag community is still celebrating after the ladies were crowned Country Champions over the weekend. The Central Coast Roosters beat Illawarra South Coast 10-4 on the weekend, creating history in the process. “they’re representing whole central coast community and clubs and for them to bring it back to everyone is really really special” But after winning a title together, they now must face each other. “Most of them are now concentrating going back to their local clubs and beating each other for the right to be the best on the Central Coast” (Audio in parts)
