JACOB MELLING EXTENDS TIME WITH MARINERS

The Mariners are continuing their forward planning for next season, announcing that Jacob Melling has extended his contract. The 23-year-old will remain in the yellow and navy until at least the end of the 2019/20 season. The defensive midfielder has made 59 A-League appearances, 11 coming at the Mariners, after joining in January. Today’s news follows the re-signing of Antony Golec yesterday.

ANTONY GOLEC PENS CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH MARINERS

The Mariners have announced defender Antony Golec has signed a contract extension with the yellow and navy. The new deal will see him remain on the Central Coast, until at least the end of the 2018/19 season. The 27-year-old is currently on the road to recovery after fracturing his shinbone in March. Golec quickly became a fan favourite in his first season at the club, forming a formidable partnership with captain Alan Baro in the heart of defence.

ANOTHER LOSS FOR WYONG ROOS

Wyong has suffered a fourth consecutive loss in the NSW Cup at the hands of Blacktown, going down by 16 points at Berkeley Vale Oval. The Roos started the Round 7 hit out on a promising note with two tries in the first 10 minutes, before the visitors responded. Blacktown took control of the game from that point on, coasting home and bagging seven tries on their way. The Roos now turn their attention to next week’s match against the Mounties at home. ADDITIONAL CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING FATAL CRASH

Police have laid additional charges following last month’s horror crash at Mount White. Two utilities and a Pantech truck collided on the M1 on March 9. The 46-year-old male driver of one of the utes was killed, while the driver of the second ute allegedly fled the scene. Following ongoing inquiries additional charges were laid against the 25-year-old, including manslaughter and driving a vehicle with illicit drug present. He’ll face court again on April 27.
