MAN FALLS SIX METRES INTO WATER TANK ON THE GOLD COAST

A man has suffered spinal and head injuries after falling six metres into a water tank on the Gold Coast. Paramedics were called to the Biggera Waters building site this morning, after a man fell through a hole into the concrete tank. He was transferred to Gold Coast Hospital and is in a stable condition. Workplace Health and Safety authorities will investigate the incident.

WEATHER WITH GAV: THE BIG CHILL IS BACK

The cold air has rolled back in today but some of the region was able to soak up some sun, mostly the Mid North Coast and North West. A big blanket of cloud settled in across the Hunter helping to keep temperatures down. NEW SITE ANNOUNCED FOR RESORT AND CASINO ON THE GOLD COAST

A new site has been announced for an integrated resort and casino on the Gold Coast. State Development Minister, Anthony Lynham, announced that a five hectare block near Sea World is the chosen location. Chinese developer ASF Consortium had originally planned to build a cruise ship terminal on Wavebreak Island as part of the development, but the Queensland government knocked back those plans earlier this year.

POLICE APPEAL FOR MISSING MAN FROM THE HUNTER

Police are appealing for information to locate a man who went missing from the Hunter Region last year. Danny See, aged 43, last made contact with his family in December 2014. His family reported him missing in February this year, after they were unable to make contact with him for a number of weeks. Inquiries revealed Mr See has not accessed any bank accounts since December 2014. Police believe he may be hitch-hiking in the region. Mr See is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 165-175cm tall, with shaved brown hair, brown eyes and a slim build.

BOY HIT BY CAR ON CENTRAL COAST

A 10-year-old boy is currently fighting for his life after being hit by a car on the Central Coast. The boy was playing with his friends on Prince Street in Wamberal, just north of Terrigal. A 19-year-old male driver was treated at the scene for shock and taken to Gosford hospital to routine tests.

From bushfires in the Blue Mountains to snow at sea level in Tasmania. Tocal in the Hunter and Norah Head on the Central coast recorded their warmest start this early in the season in 45 years yesterday. It was cooler today and it is going to be much colder tomorrow as the latest blast of polar air moves in. There is the chance that some shower activity will skim in along the coast. There is only one chance of seeing some of the wet weather reach the coast and that is tomorrow before the westerly winds dominate pushing everything offshore for the rest of the week.

HUNTER ATHLETES BRING HOME WINS FROM 2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Two athletes from the Hunter Academy of Sport are celebrating their achievements at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles last week. Jordan Brown and Keiran Corry, competed in team and individual events during the 9-day World Games. The pair received gold together for the 4x100M Freestyle Relay. Jordan won two bronze medals for 100M Breastroke and 200M breaststroke. Keiran won bronze for the 1500M Open Water swim.

FAMILY THANKS VOLUNTEERS FOR HELPING CREATE A SAFE SPACE FOR FAMILY

A Raymond Terrace family took time out today, to thank volunteers who’ve transformed their backyard into a safe space for their two little boys. Jordan and Logan Weir both live with a rare disease that affects their digestive system. The Lions Club helped raise $40,000 to build a new playroom, and clear the yard. Older brother Dylan wasn’t forgotten either – presented with a special Courage Award.
