An urgent medical recall has been issued for a number of child pain relivers, which could be a choking hazard. MAN LEFT IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING ASSAULT AT LISMORE

A man has been charged following an assault which left another man critically injured in Lismore. About 1am on Sunday, a 37-year-old man at a home in Bright Street was awoken by the sound of voices and smashing bottles. The man went outside and confronted four men. It is alleged one of the men punched the 37-year-old knocking him backwards, hitting his head on a cement driveway. Shortly after, police arrested a 38-year-old man in Clarice Street. He was charged with grevious bodily harm with intent and refused bail. The injured man remains in a critical condition.

WEATHER WITH GAV: RAIN HIT THE RIGHT AREAS

Some excellent rain totals were accumulated across the North West with a widespread 30mm.¬†Tingha and Terry Hie Hie hit 60mm. North of the Gwyder highway didn’t receive much but the rain will return there later in the week filling in the gaps. Other areas to fair well include the Upper Hunter from Scone to Wingen and Murrurundi receiving 50 to 60mm also. An east coast low will form with all the wild weather set to hit to the NSW South East coast. Things will fine up for tomorrow locally with another North West rain belt set to reach northern NSW and southern QLD from Wednesday.

POLICE LAUNCH INVESTIGATION FOR MISSING TAMWORTH WOMAN

Police have located a car linked to the disappearance of a missing Tamworth woman. Johann Morgan, aged 40, was last seen by her family at her West Tamworth home on August 8. A white Mitsubishi wagon which Ms Morgan had been using was found burnt-out on the Oxley Highway. The car has been forensically examined. Investigations have revealed Ms Morgan left home without her wallet and mobile phone, and hasn’t used her bank accounts. She’s described as being about 165cm tall, with black hair and a medium build.

PORT MACQUARIE SHARK ATTACK VICTIM ISSUES STATEMENT

A father of two, Dale Carr has issued a statement for the first time since being attacked by a shark whilst body boarding at Port Macquarie on Saturday. The 36-year-old thanked everyone who assisted him after what’s believed to have been a 2.7 metre great white shark attack. “I firstly would like to thank those who were on the beach at the time of this incident and were instrumental in retrieving me from the shoreline, contacting emergency services and treating me on the beach. “I have no doubt their efforts saved my life. “I also would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and paramedics who treated me. “As I recover in hospital, I would request privacy for my family and friends and I will make a further statement in due course.”

MAN CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY

A man has been charged with an act of animal cruelty following an incident in the Hunter region. About 9pm on Friday, it is alleged a 22-year-old man was at a house in Cornish Street, Cessnock, when he kicked a small dog. The dog received severe head injuries and died at the scene. Shortly after, the Kurri Kurri man left the house and was arrested in Maitland Road, before being charged at Maitland Police Station. He is expected to appear in court in September.

MAN FACES COURT FOR CENTRAL COAST TRAIN STATION INDECENCY

A man will face court today after allegedly making indecent comments towards a woman and a girl at a train station on the Central Coast last week. About 9am on Friday, a 37-year-old woman was waiting on a platform at Fassifern Railway Station. The man allegedly made indecent comments to her, before she reported him to station staff. Shortly after, the man approached a 14-year-old girl. The young girl felt uncomfortable and called her father to report the incident once she had boarded the train. Police were contacted and the man was arrested at Morriset Railway Station. The 34-year-old was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with commit act of indecency, two counts of intimidation and breach of bail.

SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING TRAIL BIKE RIDERS

A search continues for three trail bike riders, missing in bushland near Stroud. The trio, aged 21, 27 and 38 were last seen at 9am on Sunday, as they were setting off from Stroud for their trail bike ride. After failing to return, they were reported missing to police around 6pm last night. While the men are equipped for off road trail biking, it is understood they don’t have supplies or mobile phones with them. A search has resumed involving local police, PolAir and State Forests personnel.
