MAN DIES IN PARAGLIDING CRASH

Just after 2pm this afternoon, emergency services were called to Newcastle’s King Edward Park, amid reports a paraglider had crashed into the cliff. Paramedics tried to help the 60-year-old man from Lake Macquarie – before a special casualty access team arrived. Sadly, the man couldn’t be saved, his¬†family was watching on as the terrible incident unfolded. The victim is believed to have been an experienced pilot. More to come.

HUNTER MAN DIES IN DRIVEWAY

A man has died after being struck by his four wheel drive, as it rolled down the driveway of his Hunter Valley home last night. The 40-year-old man went to get into his car around 9:30pm, which was parked in the garage of his East Branxton home. The man’s wife went to check on him around 11pm and found him lying next to his vehicle deceased. It’s believed the man decided to roll the car forward before starting the engine, in order not to wake members of his household. Early investigations suggest the man may have got caught behind the vehicle as it rolled down the driveway and struck his head on a brick wall. A report is being prepared for the Coroner.

DRUGS AND WEAPONS SEIZED ON MID NORTH COAST

Three men have faced court today, accused of being involved in a large scale drug supply network based on the New South Wales Mid North Coast. Investigations from Strike Force Wokari allegedly uncovered a significant drug network which included a number of organised crime groups. Officers arrested three men aged 34, 41 and 45 yesterday, charging them with a number of offences. Shortly after the arrests, detectives executed four search warrants at Bonny Hills, Wauchope and Port Macquarie. Police say they seized 1kg of methylamphetamine, a .22 machine pistol, a sawn off shot gun, and a sum of cash amongst other items. The 34-year-old man was charged with 13 offences relating to firearms, large scale drug supply and his alleged involvement in a criminal group. The 41-year-old man will face four similar charges, while the 45-year-old man has been charged …
