The rear trailer of a b-double carrying plastic has been destroyed after it caught alight on the Pacific Highway, south of Ballina, in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene, outside the Broadwater Sugar Mill, just after 2am.
It took fire crews more than an hour to extinguish the fire.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
