DRIVER SURVIVES TRUCK SPILL NEAR KENDALL

A man has had a miraculous escape this morning, after his vehicle was crushed by tonnes of wooden logs on the state’s mid-north coast.

The 25-year-old was driving out of Kendall along Lorne Road, when he spotted a log truck rounding the corner and its load starting to tip.

He began braking, but the timber landed on top of the vehicle, trapping him inside.

Emergency services arrived on scene shortly after 7am and extracted him from the car.

He was taken to hospital with just a cut above his eye.

  1. Attention NBN News – the man was not rescued by emergency services! The man was rescued by (my dad) the farmer who leaves near the accident scene – talk about fake news NBN. The only emergency services that attended, was a local volunteer who ran home to put his uniform on whilst my father was using his tractor and the front end loader to free the 25 year old man from the wreckage in case there was fire. The other arrived well after the man had been freed from the wreckage. It would be good if Clem Gardner who attended the scene and conducted the rescue with the truck driver was actually recognised for the great effort he made in potentially saving the man from further harm.

  5. Hi Paul,
I caught part of this on the news the other night, and couldn’t believe the driver escaped. I only got word tonight that it was my eldest nephew that your dad helped free. The family know how big a part he played. Thank your Dad from a very very thankful family. The young bloke you saved has a young partner and a gorgeous little toddler, and they are very very lucky that he survived. I did have a laugh though, only a farmer would think to go grab his tractor and get the driver out of trouble.. and do it successfully! Years of moving things around a farm with his tractor made him the most skilled person to have on hand to get it done quickly, saving him from more potential danger. Good on him. Tell him his blood worth bottling and God bless him and his quick thinking.
    Regards
    Heidi
