Police have established a strike force, to investigate a suspected assault in Ballina over the weekend.
38-year-old Iluka resident Aaron Marks was found unconscious on River Street having sustained serious head injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was treated on scene, before being flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he remains on life support.
The victim was earlier seen leaving the nearby RSL club around midnight.
Anyone with information should contact police or crimestoppers.
