FIRE DESTROYS SAWTELL HOME

A house in Sawtell has been gutted by a blaze which broke out in a bedroom shortly after 2.30 this afternoon.

Two occupants of the home, a woman and her eight year old son, escaped the Barcoo Court residence without injury.

Emergency services were quick to arrive on the scene and extinguished the blaze before it was able to spread to neighbouring homes.

The cause of the fire is the subject of an investigation.
