POLICE OFFICER ASSAULTED DURING PORT STEPHENS ARREST

A police officer has been left with an injured arm, after he was allegedly assaulted during the arrest of a 38-year-old man in Tanilba Bay.

Just after 6pm on Thursday, police were called to a Beatty Boulevard address, following a noise complaint.

It’s alleged after police warned the 38-year-old man about his behavior, he approached them in an aggressive manner.

Officers attempted to arrest the man, where it’s alleged a violent struggle erupted and a senior constable was injured.

The man was charged with multiple offences including assaulting an officer in execution of duty.
