LOCAL BUSINESSES HAVE POKER MACHINES CAPPED
Many parts of the New England and North West have been labelled ‘high-risk’ gambling areas following legislation to put a cap on poker machines.
It means for Werris Creek, Quirindi, Wallabadah, West Tamworth, Gunnedah, Inverell and Moree – businesses with gaming machines will have numbers capped at the current capacity.
Minister for Gaming and Racing Paul Toole says it will help minimise the risk of gambling-related harm.
But the Greens were quick to criticise…saying any plan that doesn’t rapidly reduce the number of machines across the state is only increasing harm.
