MIXED FORTUNES FOR HUNTER SAILORS IN VOLVO OCEAN RACE

There’s mixed news for Lake Macquarie sailors as the Volvo Ocean Race approaches the end of leg six.
Lucas Chapman’s boat, Turn the Tide on Plastic, is currently in third as the fleet heads for Auckland.
“So there’s a light section, top of New Zealand down to Bay of Islands and then a fast finish. These finals miles are quite critical and we’ve got a lot of transitions to go through.”
Kyle Langford’s Team Brunel led early, but it’s now slipped to sixth after a gamble to find wind closer to New Caledonia, failed.
“Do everything we can to try and catch those guys, but it’s disappointing to be sailing the boat well, performance seems like it’s been better this leg but it’s all just slipping away from us so it’s tough.”
