DRIVER DIES, PASSENGER HAS LEG AMPUTATED, AFTER INVERELL CRASH

A 24-year-old man has died after his car hit a tree on Bannockburn Road, Inverell around 2:30 this morning.

A 23-year-old passenger was flown to John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries which led to the amputation of his lower right leg.

The two other occupants escaped unharmed.

Police investigations will continue to determine the cause of the crash.
