SYRINGE USED IN ATTEMPTED GOLD COAST ROBBERY

A man has threatened a staff member with a syringe during the attempted robbery of a Gold Coast chemist.

The man entered the Nerang Street business in Southport shortly before 9:30pm last night, and demanded medication.

Staff refused, and he produced a syringe and threatened a staff member.

He was again denied by staff, before fleeing on foot towards Queen Street.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 170cm tall, with a thin build, aged in his 40s, and with a small stubbly beard.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, dark-coloured shoes, and a light-coloured baseball cap.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
