The Manning Base Hospital is welcoming its second oncologist to the region.
Originally from Brazil, Dr Giovana Celli Marchatt is excited for the new role with a passion for working rurally.
She will work as a fellow until June before becoming a consultant, hoping to combat patient waiting times and make treatment more efficient.
“We’re going to try improve the cares in terms of how quick we see the patient, avoid patients having to travel for treatment to different areas and to spend more time with their families,” she says.
A new and approved oncology unit will be included in the hospitals re-development, which should be completed late 20-18.
