GOLD COAST MAN REMOVED FROM PLANE AFTER ALLEGED RAPE

A Gold Coast man has been removed from a plane bound for New Zealand, after a woman reported to police that she had been allegedly raped over the weekend.

The 37-year-old woman told police yesterday morning that she had been allegedly raped at a private residence on Amulla Court in Mudgeeraba on Sunday.

Police received information a short time later that the man, from Robina, had boarded a plane at the Gold Coast Airport bound for New Zealand.

Australian Federal Police were able to remove the man from the aircraft, and he was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of rape.
