A man is under police guard following a pursuit across the Hunter overnight.

Just after midnight, on Minmi Road at Edgeworth, a Ford Falcon sedan refused to stop for police..

Officers initiated a pursuit taking them through New Lambton and Elermore Vale.

Road spikes were deployed on Croudace Road, puncturing the vehicle’s rear tyre causing it to drive erratically

Officers calling off the chase a short time later over safety concerns.

The car was dumped near an industrial area on Tomago Road at Tomago.

The 27 year old was tracked down in nearby bushland by the dog squad.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment for a dog bite.

It’s expected he will be charged with several offences upon his release from hospital.
