TWO ALLEGEDLY DISCOVERED HAVING SEX ON A FAR NORTH COAST BEACH

Two men have been issued criminal infringement notices after police allegedly discovered the pair engaged in a sex act on a beach on the far north coast.

Police were conducting high visibility patrols of Tweed-Byron beaches on Friday afternoon, when they allegedly saw the two naked men engaged in a sex act, about 400 metres outside the designated clothing optional area.

The two men, aged 27 and 57, were issued criminal infringement notices for offensive behaviour.

Police say they will continue to patrol local beaches and nearby bushland in response to community concerns about illegal nude bathing and lewd behaviour.

Tyagarah beach near Byron Bay is the only current legal nude bathing beach in the region.
