APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR ABORIGINAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY SCHOLARSHIPS

Aboriginal people wanting to become a nurse or widwife are encouraged to apply for government scholarship and cadet programs.

The scholorship provides up to $1,000 per subject for Aboriginal students in a Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery.

$15,000 is also available for registered nurses or midwives undertaking postgraduate studies.

Kempsey’s Amy Thompson had a dream of becoming a nurse when she was five and achieved her goal through the program.

“I faced many hurdles and dilemas throughout the strudy process but I’m fortunate with the help of the cadetship.” – Nurse Amy Thompson.

Amy completed her degree at the University of Newcastle’s Port Macquarie campus.
