CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING ALLEGED PURSUIT
A 31 year old man will front court following a police pursuit through Newcastle’s western suburbs.
Around 3.30pm yesterday, police tried to pull over holden Commodore sedan on Sandgate road, Wallsend.
It’s alleged the man sped off with officers giving chase.
However the pursuit was called off over safety concerns.
A short time later the car was discovered on Lorna Street, Waratah West.
The dog squad was called in to search nearby swamp land, eventually finding the man hiding in a creek.
Upon searching him, police allegedly found a small amount of methyl amphetamine while a search of the vehicle located a 12 gauge sawn off shotgun
The 31 year old has been charged with a raft of offences including possessing prohibited drugs, driving while disqualified and Skye’s law.
