MEREWETHER TAKES TOP SPOT IN NEWCASTLE CRICKET

In Newcastle District Cricket Merewether is on top of the ladder at Christmas following an outright win over Hamilton-Wickham.
Tim O’Neill took 6 for 35 today to finish the match with 14 wickets.
In other games, the Students beat Waratah-Mayfield and Belmont hammered Stockton-Raymond Terrace.
Charlestown scored an important victory over Wallsend despite Nathan Price scoring 124 not out for the Tigers.
Newcastle City beat Wests as Dylan Hunter scored 165 not out and Toronto belted Cardiff-Boolaroo.
At Townson Oval, Hamwicks were in real trouble, sitting at 6 for 23 in their second innings.
Andrew Maher and Rhys Hanlon both survived chances.
Before they combined to try and mount a mid-innings revival.
Maher finished with 24, while Hanlon ended up not out on 38, but the Lions proved way too strong.
