A 21-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a car while walking on the road in the Newcastle suburb of Wallsend.
She was walking with two male friends on Minmi Road near the intersection of Fletcher Street around 11pm on Thursday, when she was hit by a Holden Astra travelling west.
The young woman died in John Hunter Hospital.
The 18-year-old male driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.
