A woman has died after being caught in a current on a Mid North Coast beach.
Shortly after 5:30pm last night, the 49-year-old woman was in a family of five at Diggers Beach in Coffs Harbour, when they got into trouble in a strong current.
Bystanders assisted the family back to shore but the woman became unconscious.
Police attempted to resuscitate the woman before she was taken to hospital, where it was announced she had passed away.
