69-YEAR-OLD GOLD COAST BUS DRIVER PUNCHED IN THE FACE

A man who allegedly assaulted a bus driver, after earlier refusing to pay the fare, will face a Gold Coast court next month.

The incident happened just before 1:30pm at Robina Town Centre on Thursday.

Police allege a verbal altercation took place, before the man punched the 69-year-old driver in the face.

An 18-year-old Varsity Lakes man has since been charged with serious assault and fare evasion.

The driver received medical treatment for a small laceration and bruising.
