BYRON PREPARES FOR RAIL REVIVAL

Getting around Byron Bay without sitting in gridlock, probably sounds rather appealing.

From Saturday, that becomes a possibility – the Byron Bay train offering commuters a transport alternative.

  1. Great news and a great shot in the arm for for a future commuter rail service on the Casino / Murwillumbah line and future connection to the SEQ rail system.
    The Byron train will give the younger generation, many who have never experienced the convenience , fun and relaxing transport solution that rail offers, a taste of what could be with a reinvigorated north coast branch line.
    The young, elderly, disabled, tourists and non drivers in our region will be able to get around our beautiful part of NSW without having to venture out on our motorways to dice with speeding B Doubles and ever increasing numbers of vehicles.
    The Government from both sides has been treating us with contempt like we are some backwater with a declining population and therefore no need for alternative environmentally friendly transport when exactly the opposite is the case.

  2. It’s not solar, it’s electric / diesel and charged off the grid. Train has no real benefit apart from taking resort guests 3km into CBD. It’s noisy, there is very limited parking and their is no justification for the effect on amenity to local residents and businesses.

  3. It is Solar , the diesel is a back up only and from what I’ve heard it is not noisy. By all of your negative comments I’m guessing you belong to the rail trail bike tragics group.

  4. Lovely part of the country needs a train to relax on and help those without transport.
    Am sure this small route can be the start of bigger things
