JURY RETIRES IN TYSON PETER EGAN TRIAL

The jury has retired to consider its verdict in the manslaughter trial of Tyson Peter Egan.

Egan is accused of fatally punching his friend, Kyle Watkins, outside a Coffs Harbour pub in October 2015.

Kyle Watkins’ family and friends gathered at the Coffs Harbour Court House this morning for the final day of questioning.

The prosecution argued Egan’s actions were not a reasonable response to the circumstances and therefore could not be considered self defence.

The defence said there’s no evidence to suggest Egan was angry and that he was responding to Watkins aggression.
