APPLICATION LODGED TO ADDRESS EROSION AT LAKE CATHIE

Port Macquarie council has lodged a funding application with Crown Lands in a bid to address the erosion at Lake Cathie.

Significant weather events including high seas and large swells have eaten away at coastline south of the village.

“So council currently has an application into, with the crown to fix up the erosion and dredge the lake to replenish the sand on the edge so that we can get back that 20 metres of sand that has disappeared over the last 12 months.” – Lucilla Marshall, Port Macquarie Council.

Council hopes the announcement is made soon and work can get underway in Autumn next year.
