MIXED FORTUNES FOR NEWCASTLE PLAYERS IN LATEST WNBL ROUND

In basketball, and it’s been a mixed round for Hunter players in the WNBL, with Katie Rae Ebzery leading Sydney Uni to a big win over the Melbourne Boomers this afternoon, while Suzy Batkovic and her Townsville Fire lost to Perth.

It wasn’t an easy weekend for Batkovic, despite the Fire also having a seven-point win over Melbourne.

The reigning MVP had an unusual night, hitting just four of 24 shots, but solid free-throw shooting saw her battle her way to 17 points, while she also grabbed 17 rebounds.
