SIX ARRESTED ON FIRST NIGHT OF SCHOOLIES CELEBRATIONS

Police believe wet weather has seen schoolies celebrations on the Gold Coast slightly down for the same time as last year’s event.

Official celebrations started for students last night around the Surfers Paradise precinct.

Six schoolies – all male – were arrested on six offences, with the majority of offences being for drug possession.

Eight schoolies were arrested at the same time last year.

A further 12 non-schoolies were arrested on 24 drug-related offences.
