STUDENTS BRIEFLY TRAPPED IN SCHOOL BUS AFTER CRASH WITH CAR

15 students have been trapped in a bus after it was involved in a crash with a car on the Tweed.

The incident happened shortly before 3:30pm yesterday, on Wharf Street in Tweed Heads.

The students were released by emergency services, and there were no reports of injuries.

A 40-year-old female passenger in the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the driver of the car and another male passenger reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at a home shortly after, and was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
