COUNCIL PUTS UP FENCE FOR LITTLE TERNS

Beachgoers will notice little terns have returned to nest for the summer at The Entrance.

The birds are a threatened species, with only 400 pairs breeding in New South Wales each year.

Central Coast Council has fenced in their breeding ground to keep them out of harm’s way.

The fence protects other migratory species like the red-capped plovers.

Birdwatchers will monitor their nests throughout the summer.
