Police have uncovered a weapons cache during a vehicle search in Newcastle this morning.

Officers say they stopped a Ford falcon sedan on Hunter Street around 1.15am.

It’s alleged during a search they found a sawn-off rifle, a hunting knife and two pocket knives.

A 21-year-old woman and two men, aged 27 and 23, were arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

The 27-year-old was charged with numerous offences – the other two were released as investigations continue.
