ARE YOU RECYCLING CORRECTLY?

Port Macquarie residents are being reminded to stop and think before throwing waste in the bin this National Recycling Week.

While 89 per cent of the community is making use of the yellow recycling bin, some aren’t doing so correctly.

“Sometimes in the bin we see some contamination as well, so things like plastic bags, food scraps, clothing – that can mess with our recycling machine. So we’re just urging people to be mindful of what they’re putting in those bins” – Dan Croft – Council’s Acting Development Director

Computers, televisions and scrap metal can be dropped off at free local waste transfer stations in Kew, Wauchope and Port Macquarie.

Residents are also being encouraged to purchase reusable items such as coffee cups and shopping bags to help save the environment and their back pocket.
