MAN’S EAR BITTEN OFF IN ALLEGED BYRON EAR ASSAULT
A man has had part of his ear bitten off during an assault on the Far North Coast.
Police say a 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were walking along Jonson Street in Byron Bay around 12:30am on Sunday, when they became involved in an altercation with another man, aged 26.
The 26-year-old was punched and kicked during the alleged assault, and had part of his ear bitten off.
Patrolling police intervened and arrested the man and woman.
The injured man was treated at the scene before being taken to Byron Bay Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
The 33-year-old man was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The 30-year-old woman was charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
They are both scheduled to appear in Byron Bay Local Court this month.
It’s believed the three are known to each other.
