CHARGES LAID AFTER WOMAN HIT WITH BROKEN BOTTLE
A woman has required surgery after another woman allegedly struck her with a broken bottle on the Far North Coast.
Police say a fight broke out between the pair, aged 31 and 40, outside a grocery store on Jonson Street in Byron Bay, shortly before 6pm on Friday.
During the altercation, police allege the younger woman struck the 40-year-old across the forearm with a broken bottle.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene, before taking her to Byron Bay Hospital where she underwent surgery.
The younger woman was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and affray.
