STRIKE FORCE NABS ALLEGED ONLINE CHILD GROOMER
A Casino man will face court after police led him to believe he was speaking to a 14-year-old girl online before he allegedly engaged in sexually-explicit conversations with her.
Police also allege the man made arrangements to meet the girl in person.
Strike force officers began engaging online with a man from the Northern Rivers area in June last year.
As a result of their investigation, police arrested a 34-year-old man at a home at Tweed Heads just after 9am today.
He was charged with using a carriage service to groom child a under 16 for sexual activity.
Police seized a mobile phone, computer, and electronic devices related to the arrest during the execution of a search warrant at a property in Casino.
Strike Force Trawler was established by the Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit to conduct ongoing investigations into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children online.
