COUNCIL LOOKING AT WHALE REMOVAL OPTIONS

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is bowing to public pressure following the burial of a deceased whale at Nobby’s Beach on Monday.

The council have said they are taking the concerns very seriously, discussing the matter at length with the community at last night’s council meeting.

Retrieving the 20 tonne whale would be difficult as the beach isn’t accessible by vehicle.

While beaches in Port Macquarie are still closed amid fears that sharks will be attracted to the dead animal.

With the official patrol season starting this weekend, a drone is set to monitor shark activity from Saturday until the end of the upcoming school holidays.
