CARMICHAEL FALLS SHORT IN PORTUGAL

Avoca’s Wade Carmichael has fallen just short of the Azores Pro final in Portugal, bowing out in the semi-finals.

The 25-year-old scored his top two waves straight away, then struggled to manage anything over two for his remaining waves.

Meanwhile, Wamberal teen Harry Maskell has taken out second place at the World Stand Up Paddleboard Championships.

He was the youngest competitor in the final, only beaten by Brazil’s Luiz Diniz by one point.
