This satellite image is what snow lovers look out for. A mass of cold air sweeping in across the south-east, set to produce the biggest snow dump of the season which will take the base to depths not seen in years across the Snowy Mountains.
Clear elsewhere across the country.
This is a classic winter blast set up for the south-east with strong, icy winds and snow set to fall to low levels in Tasmania, Victoria and southern NSW.
The big dry for the rest of the nation continues on.
Clear and colder with south-west winds still mild for the Northern Rivers and south-east Queensland.
