ONE DEAD AFTER MID-NORTH COAST CRASH

A man has died while a teenage woman has been hospitalised following a crash on the state’s Mid-North Coast.

Around 4pm yesterday a Mitsubishi and Subaru station wagon crashed head on along the Pacific Highway, about 2km south of The Lakes Way at Rainbow Flat.

The 69-year-old male driver of the Subaru died at the scene, while the 18-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi was taken to Port Macquarie District Hospital in a stable condition.

Crash scene investigators say the Mitsubishi may have been travelling the wrong way along the highway, heading north in the southbound lanes.
