Strong winds are also causing dangerous surf conditions along Hunter’s coast this weekend.
Beachgoers and rock fishers are being urged to act cautiously in the water.
“For the surfers stay out, we’ve got some wonderful indoor baths and pools to utilise, so just while this current weather is here on the coast steer clear of the ocean it’s a cranky place at the moment,” SLSC Hunter President, Henry Scruton says.
The powerful surf is expected to ease early next week.
