WWI FLAG RETURNED TO NEWCASTLE AFTER PAINSTAKING RESTORATION

A remarkable effort in Newcastle has seen the restoration of what’s arguably Australia’s most important cultural relic of World War One.

The Birdwood Flag, which flew over our forces in Europe, had disintegrated into hundreds of pieces, and was locked away for decades before its re-discovery, and re-birth.
