FIRE RISK HIGH AS TEMPERATURE DIPS
Households across the northwest were switching heaters on this morning with a surprisingly wet and chilly start across the region.
A dip in temperature has seen Fire and Rescue New South Wales remind residents of winter fire safety.
They say while 50 per cent of fires start in the kitchen, people must also take care with other appliances.
“Those heating appliances are heaters, clothes dryers, electric blankets, all those sort of appliances that people take for granted that they can cause you harm if they’re not used correctly”.
People are also being urged to replace batteries in their smoke alarms.
