BURNT OUT CAR LINKED TO HOME INVASION

It’s been discovered that an abandoned and burnt out vehicle on the Gold Coast was stolen during a burglary on the weekend.

Emergency services responded to reports of a car fire on Kopps Road in Pacific Pines around 9.20pm on Monday.

The fire was extinguished and a search revealed a firearm and ammunition inside the car.

Police say the Chrysler sedan was stolen from a Gunther Street home on Sunday.

During the burglary, two men also assaulted a 30-year-old woman.

She was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe the burglary was targeted, and the men were known to the residents.
