VERITY STRIKE GIVES LAMBTON THE POINTS

In the Hunter’s NPL competition, Edgeworth and Hamilton split the points last night, while Valentine belted the Magpies.

This afternoon, Weston drew with the Jets Youth and the Jaffas beat Charlestown City.

Lambton had the chance to maintain top spot with a win, but the Blues looked dangerous in the opening minutes, Lambton’s Michael Sessions clearing an early cross.

A defensive mix up between Nathan Morris and Brad Swancott saw Charlestown City’s Matt Tull force the ball free, before Rene Ferguson made it 1-0 to the Blues.

The Jaffas got back into the game as Tom Waller made a great run from over halfway, before producing a cool finish.

1-1 at the break, Lambton grabbed all three points when Nathan Verity smashed home a great shot at the back post.
